IN DEVELOPMENT- Programs for Caregivers (Video Series)

Day-to-Day Care & Resources
This video series will cover basic and safety care in transitioning patients (i.e. bed to chair). Teaching will include reading and adjusting basic equipment, feeding, assistive devices, medication administration, recording and showering. We will also address home set up, resources available, comfort care and end of life indicators.

Relationship & Communication
Establishing relationships or re-defining relationships with loved ones is key in developing communication skills for efficient and effective care. This series will provide practices in developing meaningful relationships and also awareness of challenges including dementia, brain trauma, moral injury and mental health. Communication is key to compassionate care and developing these skills can make life more pleasant for the caregiver and the patient.

Patient Advocate Empowerment & Resources
Our goal is to create patient advocates who understand not only how to guide someone through a diagnosis and treatment but also understand all of the available resources in our community. This group of advocates can be a life-line to caregivers and patients alike in navigating their healthcare journey.

Mastering Empathy in Caregiving
CCC is designed to provide an in-depth overview of empathetic caregiving and support for a broad community of caregivers across Central New York. Communication, Connection and Compassion are key components in supporting, advocating for, and providing healthcare for patients. Developed through a collaboration with teaching and educational partners, CCC is designed to both support caregivers and provide an opportunity for continuing education. This course will provide practices that enable caregivers to meet people where they are and provide services to individuals within their comfort-level, understanding and wishes.
